Orchard

The Orchard series was produced between 2000 and 2004 using a 6x12 panoramic format camera with extreme wide angle lens. The wide perspective and almost unlimited depth of field permitted me to explore viewpoints that would not be possible with a conventional camera. In most instances the camera was situated within the branches of an apple, peach, or cherry tree and in some, the lens is a mere inch or two from the fruit that provided color and counterpoint to the patches of foliage and sky.

Made of Light: India

The photographs in this series were made in 1991 at Ellora and Mammallapuram, India. The Shore Temple at Mammallapuram is an assembled structure on the edge of the sea along India’s southeast coast, while the Cave Temples at Ellora are all excavated from the living rock along a hillside near the Village of Ellora in the State of Maharashtra, north of Mumbai. Although different in architectural form, both sites eloquently convey a sense of the sacred in images carved in stone.
